Maguire pulled up during the first-half of United's Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, which sent the Red Devils to the bottom of Group A and crashing out of Europe. Ten Hag is under increasing pressure because the defeat was United's 12th loss of the year and the Dutchman will need to work hard to get a win away to Liverpool without Maguire in the middle of the defence.

Talking during the pre-match press conference, Ten Hag said: "Harry [Maguire] will not be available for coming games, but don't think he is a long-term [issue]. Luke Shaw trained this morning, so we think he's available for Sunday. Marcus Rashford [is available]."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
After forcing his way back into Ten Hag's plans, Maguire has participated in all nine of United's Premier League games, playing the entire 90 minutes. After Bruno Fernandes took over as club captain the previous season, the 30-year-old was benched for the second part of the 2022–2023 season. Nevertheless, he is now higher in United's defensive rankings than Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.
