Transfer expert Dean Jones says that ‘people within’ Newcastle United see January target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as a ‘great fit’ at St. James’ Park.
The Lowdown: January target
As per The Times, Kvaratskhelia has become one of the North East club’s priority targets after favourable scouting reports were put together before the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
However, they are facing competition from both Real Madrid and PSG, who are monitoring his situation at Napoli, while he is valued at £50m by the Serie A side.
The Latest: A ‘great fit’
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has shared that ‘people within the club’ see Kvaratskhelia as a ‘great fit’ on Tyneside, but does not think that he will leave Napoli in January:
“There are certainly some people within the club that see him as a great fit for what they’re building.
“I’m sure they would love to have him, but this is one of the most coveted players in Europe. To be honest, I don’t think he’ll be leaving yet, so that’s going to be one issue.”

The Verdict: Do what it takes…
Eddie Howe’s team need to do everything that they can to try and get a deal done for Kvaratskhelia in January.
Hailed as a ‘genuine superstar’ and an ‘unreal talent’ by journalist by Kyle Bonn after an impressive performance in the UEFA Champions League group stages, the 20-year-old managed two goals and three assists in five games in Europe’s elite competition, while he has also scored eight goals and supplied 10 assists in 12 matches in the Serie A (Transfermarkt).
This means that before the break for the World Cup, Kvaratskhelia was averaging more than a goal contribution a game in all competitions, impressive numbers indeed for a winger.
Sharing a similar playing style to Premier League stars Son Heung-min, Bukayo Saka and Mo Salah, the Georgia international would be destined to thrive in the top flight, and the Magpies could give him the platform to shine in January.
