Manchester United are in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the transfer of Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Per Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, the Red Devils are closing in on a deal for Ugarte in the ongoing summer transfer window. While both United and PSG would prefer a permanent transfer, there remains a possibility of an initial loan move with an obligation to buy next season.

It was earlier reported that United were keen on signing the Uruguay international as they look to rebuild their squad under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group's leadership. However, the club considered the valuation of the midfielder too high as the Ligue 1 champions were demanding £51 million ($66.2m).
