Last week it was reported that Celtic have made a £3m bid for Sheffield United right-back George Baldock, and that move may well be heading towards fruition as the Blades are seemingly eyeing up a potential replacement.
An article from Football Insider has claimed that the Yorkshire outfit are interested in Todd Kane, who is set to be released when his contract expires this month.
What’s the story?
Despite only ever being a Chelsea player, Kane has been somewhat of a journeyman for the past few years.
The full-back has been loaned out a staggering eight times since 2012, but time has finally been called on his Stamford Bridge career.
During his eight-year spell at the London club, the defender never made a single senior appearance, but he has been racking up experience in the lower leagues during a multitude of loan spells.
Last season the Englishman plied his trade at Hull City, where he had a decent campaign.
His performances for the Tigers impressed enough to draw Premier League interest, with Chris Wilder’s side showing an interest in the 25-year-old along with Aston Villa.
Baldock on the way out?
That the Steel City outfit are chasing a new right-back less than a week after Celtic reportedly bid for Baldock is unlikely to be coincidental.
The Scottish champions have apparently made an offer for the defender and, with the Blades now expressing an interest in Kane, it appears that foundations are being laid for life after Baldock.

It’s unlikely to be a popular decision amongst the United fans if the 26-year-old is allowed to leave for just £3m, but if Wilder can continue his trend of getting the best out of players, Kane could prove to be a great replacement.
