According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United will look to sell German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald in this summer’s transfer window.
What’s the story?
Wiedwald joined Leeds from Werder Bremen in last summer’s transfer window, with the Championship club believed to have parted with £500,000 for the 28-year-old.
It would be fair to say that things have not quite worked out at Elland Road, however, with the stopper widely criticised by the Leeds supporters for his performances this season.
Wiedwald has made 28 Championship appearances this term – conceding 33 times in the process – but has not turned out for the club since the start of February.
The German has not actually been on the bench for any of Leeds’ last five league matches, and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites are desperate to offload the goalkeeper in this summer’s transfer window.
Will it be easy for Leeds to shift him?
It is worth remembering that Wiedwald actually started the season with six clean sheets in his first seven matches, and looked a fine goalkeeper at that point.

The former Germany Under-20 international has made a string of mistakes since, however, and only got a second spell as number one due to the poor form of Andy Lonergan.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has recently been handed the gloves, and it seems that the youngster will finish the season between the sticks.
Leeds might be desperate to sell in this summer’s transfer window, but Wiedwald is contracted to the Championship club until the summer of 2020, and it is not going to be easy to convince clubs to take the stopper when considering his form this season.
It is certainly a tricky situation for the former Champions League club, but Wiedwald has been really disappointing this season, and simply needs to be moved on whatever the cost.
