Karnataka steamrolled Himachal Pradesh on the third day at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, winning the match by an innings and 26 runs. Himachal, resuming on 117 for 4 – trailing by 335, were bundled out for 179. Vinay Kumar, the right-arm medium-pacer, and Anil Kumble grabbed three wickets apiece and reaped the same reward after Himachal were asked to follow on. None of Himachal’s batsmen managed a fifty in the match, as Karnataka gained six points – the maximum possible – from thegame.

Ramesh Powar’s 5 for 68 was followed up by a quickfire 57 from Prashant Naik as Mumbai raced to an eight-wicket win against Tamil Nadu in Chennai. Tamil Nadu resumed the day at 30 at 1 – trailing by 81 runs, but their batsmen faltered again while facing Mumbai’s bowlers, and were bundled out for 214 in their second innings. Ajit Agarkar removed Dinesh Karthik, and Aavishkar Salvi picked up three key wickets, including that of S Badrinath, whom he bowled for second time in the match. K Vasudevadas and R Ashwin led a rearguard action with a 91-run seventh-wicket stand, but Salvi removed them both – Ashwin with a run-out. Mumbai needed 104, and Naik’s 42-ball 57 ensured they completed the win in 19 overs.
