Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media to Samuel Saiz’s opening his heart in a post describing why he has suddenly left the club.
The 27-year-old midfielder had played a key role under Marcelo Bielsa in Leeds’ current campaign, featuring 21 times in all competitions even if many of those were from the substitutes’ bench, but missed Saturday’s victory at Bolton for personal reasons.
Saiz has since joined Getafe in Spain, where his wife is due to give birth in the coming weeks, with his agent telling the Yorkshire Evening Post “a personal problem made him come back to Madrid.”
In a post on the midfielder’s Twitter account, the Spaniard then shared his gratitude for the club sanctioning his loan move to Getafe, which commences on January 1 although he is allowed to remain in Spain prior to the move.
Saiz thanked the club’s owner, Victor Orta, and the manager, Bielsa, for allowing him to return to his homeland, while adding that he hopes Leeds can get back to where it belongs.
The final part, in particular, caught the attention of a lot of United fans, who wanted to pass on their gratitude to their now former ace.
