The Wave had to finish the game with just 10 players too, as Morgan limped off in pain with less than 10 minutes to go because her team had used all of its subs. The striker sustained the problem amid San Diego's best chance of the game, as her shot was blocked by an opposing defender just before she left the field, walking rather uncomfortably as she did so.
WHAT WAS SAID
Speaking to the media after the game, Abby Dahlkemper, defender at the Wave and the USWNT, was asked how her teammate was. She couldn't offer many details but responded: "She's doing okay and she's obviously a huge, important piece to our team. She'll be back as soon as possible."
DID YOU KNOW?
Morgan is not just a big player for the Wave but also for the U.S., which will compete in the Olympic women's football tournament in July. All will hope the injury that the 34-year-old has suffered is not serious.
