Emily Fox joins ArsenalReveals reason for joining GunnersPresent at Arsenal's 4-1 win over Chelsea in DecemberGetty ImagesWHAT HAPPENED?
In an effort to strengthen and deepen their defence Arsenal confirmed the acquisition of Fox on Thursday. Fox is a like-for-like replacement for Noelle Maritz, who left last weekend to sign a permanent contract with Aston Villa. The USWNT defender has now revealed what convinced her to join the Jonas Eidevall-led side. Fox revealed that one of the reasons that convinced her to join Arsenal was the record crowd of 59,042 spectators at the Emirates when Eidevall's side beat title rivals Chelsea in December.

“That game and being there was really the icing on the cake. After that game I was just all jittery and excited,” Fox told Telegraph Sport, after completing her move to Arsenal. “The experience of it, the unbelievable atmosphere, the fans and how loud they were, and the football that was played, and beating Chelsea — there was research done before then but then that was the icing on top, for me to say ‘I want to play here’.”
"Why Arsenal? Their style of play and the way they carry themselves as a club, and how they want the women’s game to grow and how they want to be an asset to that, wanting to get the girls to play in the Emirates as much as they can and providing the same facilities — that unity really excites me"
“I first started talking to the club sometime last year and my first impression was just excitement that they were interested. I know Lotte [Wubben-Moy] and Alessia [Russo] really well so I reached out to them and got to know more about the club through their lens. And now I’m here I can see it myself, that the club is really invested and wants Arsenal to be united entirely with the academy, the youth, the women’s and the men.”

Fox played with the English duo of Wubben-Moy and Russo at North Carolina Tar Heels in the US College system. Ahead of Sunday's FA Cup matchup against Watford, Eidevall lauded Fox's "explosiveness" and described her as one of the world's best offensive full-backs who can play on either wing.
WHAT NEXT FOR FOX?
Fox is likely to be involved when Arsenal take on Watford in the fourth round of the Women's FA Cup later today at Meadow Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 pm GMT as Eidevall will hope his side will make it to the latter stages of the competition.
