Liverpool made the right decision in not pursuing a deal for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who according to The Mirror, could join a club in Spain on loan.
What’s the word?
There was a level of hype around the 22-year-old when he was called up to the England squad for the World Cup in Russia.
Loftus-Cheek has impressed when on the pitch, but those moments of competitive action have been hard to come by at Chelsea.
After it emerged that Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had suffered a long-term injury, some fans wondered whether Loftus-Cheek would be a decent replacement.
As it turns out, The Mirror claims that the Chelsea man could join a Spanish club on loan for the rest of the season after Maurizio Sarri made it clear that the midfielder will not be part of his plans this season.
Loftus-Cheek failed to make the squad that faced Arsenal at the weekend, and if the England international had signed for Liverpool he would have had the same predicament.
Why were Liverpool right to avoid him?
There is no doubt that Loftus-Cheek has bags of skill and ability, but he is not quite the finished product just yet.
In order to reach his potential, the midfielder needs to be playing regularly and judging by Liverpool’s start to the season, he would not have had much luck at Anfield.

Despite Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury, the Reds already have a packed midfield, particularly following the arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita this summer.
Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Adam Lallana are also options for manager Jurgen Klopp.
Therefore, if Loftus-Cheek was added to the equation, it is likely that he would miss out most of the time.
