The Panthers went down 26-0 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in an NFL game on December 31. During the game, Panthers and MLS side Charlotte FC owner Tepper was caught on camera, throwing a drink at the crowd in front of his lavish suite where a section of Jaguars fans were seated.

Charlotte FC finished ninth in the Eastern Conference in the MLS 2023 season with 43 points from 34 matches. They made it to the Wild Card round, but unfortunately in the one-off game, they went down 5-2 against New York Red Bulls.
The Crown parted ways with manager Christian Lattanzio at the end of the last season and were linked with a move for Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, but they eventually appointed former Aston Villa and Leicester City boss Dean Smith as their new head coach last month.
