Kieran Trippier has missed Tottenham Hotspur’s last two matches with a groin strain, but has been passed fit for Wednesday’s clash with Southampton.
Tottenham recorded a 3-1 win over Chelsea in Trippier’s absence, but suffered a 4-2 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Serge Aurier struggled against the Gunners, and Trippier is expected to be handed a spot in the starting XI against Southampton.
The Tottenham supporters, however, are not all that keen despite Aurier’s struggles.
Trippier – a 2015 arrival from Burnley – was excellent for Tottenham last season, and was also one of England’s key players en route to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
Some of the defender’s performances this season have been a bit disappointing though.
The 28-year-old has scored once and provided four assists from right-back this term, but his defensive work has been criticised on a number of occasions.
