Leeds United are now looking north of the border in their hunt for a striker as reports have emerged stating that the Whites are interested in Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.
Intrigue in Griffiths is certainly exciting as at the top of his game the striker was one of the deadliest strikers Celtic Park has seen, netting 31 goals in 34 league appearances in the 2015/6 season.
The Scot’s quality was there for all to see and his brace of free-kicks against England back in 2017 perfectly highlighted the technical skill that he possesses. That being said, he has just five strikes this term.

Unfortunately, playing up front for a Marcelo Bielsa team is about a lot more than scoring goals and technical ability, and there are serious questions around whether or not Griffiths can provide what the Argentine wants.
Bielsa’s attackers need to run their socks off for 90 minutes and intensely press the backline.
For all the criticism Patrick Bamford receives, he’s often been praised for his pressing, and with Griffiths’ lack of first-team football over the past two years it’s tough to imagine that he’s fit enough to play that role.
Indeed, he’s played just 850 league minutes since the start of last season, and Bielsa requires impeccable fitness standards from his players.
If Griffiths was signing in the summer with a full pre-season of ‘murderball’ and tough training sessions ahead of him then he may have been a good signing. He would have been able to get up to speed, but with just 18 league games to go this term, it seems a bit redundant to sign a man who is unlikely to be fully match-fit and up to standard.
If United wanted the 29-year-old they should have gone for him in the summer, and perhaps it’s one that they should revisit at the end of the season.
In other news, Leeds may not need an Eddie Nketiah replacement if they sign this man.
